Ice cream bread

I have seen this pinned many times, I have seen it on Facebook as well. " make bread with ice cream and flour." Umm, right.
So when I got sent the pin again, challenge accepted.
First off, make sure to get self rising flour, apparently that makes all the difference. I decided to make coffee ice cream bread because I thought, what could be better then coffee bread!
So, I did what the directions said "2 cups ice cream and 1 1/2 cups self rising flour." This is what happened when I stirred and put it in bread pan
After, I put it in the oven and crossed my fingers.
The receipe said 45 minutes, I guess it depends on your oven but it took my oven 47.5 minutes to get the knife to come out clean.
I was shocked at what came out after those tense 47.5 minutes, honest to goodness bread!
It was warm and crusty and really nice looking. I just couldn't believe it, I am easily amused but come on, this is like a party trick that no one could see coming!  After looking at it and being amazed I cut into it,
Bread!!! I don't know about you but I was so excited. Ice cream and flour really makes bread. The hubs, my two boys and myself were speechless. We all took a bite and despite our skepticism it was delicious!!!! It was warm, moist, and sweet. Now, to be honest it didn't taste like coffee, it was not the coffee cake kind of taste I was envisioning. However, it was bread, did I mention it was bread!!!!!
I was prepared to disappoint everyone who pinned this receipe and write about how it was a soupy ice cream flour mess, but I was soooo wrong.
In closing I am going to make this  with chocolate ice cream to see if it tastes like chocolate bread. But, try it, love it and be amazed that ice cream and flour really do make bread.

Addicted

Hello my fellow Pintrest-Aholics!

Lets face it, as we have said many times before, Pintrest was created to make us all feel as though we need to have our house decorated year round according to the holiday, it dictates what we should be making for dinner, that we need to exercise and that our dogs are not content until we make them homemade dog biscuits with herbs and seeds we have never heard of.

I will be the first to admit I am guilty as charged, I have made 4th of July crafts, our door was decorated for Halloween using Pintrest ideas, my oldest sons birthday party was orchestrated from "pins" and my boys bedroom has pictures and posters decorated with ideas I have seen on Pintrest and had to have.

While I have had many "Pintrest Successes." Oh my word, have I had some fails. Many times my fails happen because I am not very patient. However, these fails were not because of that, they simply didn't come together and I feel as though these little "bombs." are put on Pintrests for fun.
Here is a couple examples of my fails.

Both promised these projects would be easy, yummy and yield amazing results. What transpired was so far from the truth.

The cake fell apart as soon as I cut into it and the apples, well not even the dog would entertain the idea to eat them. So, I wondered how many others have tried and failed. After googling "Pinterest fails." (Try it.) I noticed many others have tried, said a few choice words and failed.

So I decided, why not take the guess work and frustration away for my fellow Pinterest friends and try all those crafts, recipes and other items on Pinterest y'all are scared to try and do them for you. I have the time with being a stay at home mom and rather then just trying them and seeing if they work for my amusement I will bring you all along for the ride and hopefully find some things that are actually worth our time and those runs to the grocery store!

So here is your challenge, find that recipe or that craft you have always wanted to try but haven't had the guts or the time to try and send them to me!! Every week I will try a new one and let you know how it is! Bonus, you will get the husband and child review as well! Deal?

Ok, so for my first try I made "fluffy flour sand." Promises to keep my kids busy for "hours." With moldable, delicious smelling "sand." It only required two ingredients, flour and baby oil. The picture showed gorgeous pure white sand, shaped into sand castle type molds.

Well, it does smell amazing. Like a new baby, and it was easy. However, the white color turned out more like a concrete color and as far as being able to mold it, it was more like pie crust, grainy and sorta held together. Gavin had more fun patting it and then smelling his hands claiming "I smell soooo good."  Jack my 1 year old just tried to eat it, so not recommended for the younger crowd.
Gavin who is almost 6 enjoyed it, and did play with it for about 20 minutes and it could be molded, although it didn't stay molded for long. It was in my opinion a win! Worth trying more for just the ease of a rainy day activity. Something kids can do with you and even the most impatient child such as my own could wait for.
Mine is on the right. Not fluffy white sand, but again fun!
So try it, your kids will love it and my hands do smell sooo good. :)
Next week I am gonna attempt dill pickle dip! So send pins and let me know if you try the sand!
